Eccentric fashion meets thrown-together teacher style in Abbott Elementary, an American mockumentary sitcom aired on ABC. The show’s creator, showrunner and Emmy-winning writer Quinta Brunson plays protagonist Janine, who is the newest second-grade teacher at a fictional public school in Philadelphia. Just like the young kids trying to figure out who they are, the staff’s fashion has an experimental feel to it. Janine’s character is as endearing as her try-hard clothing, combining unusual colors, patterns and designs to produce entirely unique ensembles. Her jumbled clothing is juxtaposed with the appearance of holding it together since her recent breakup with middle-school boyfriend Tariq, but all isn’t what it seems.
