Suburban housewife style meets city party-girl chic in this American drama created by Stacy Rukeyser for Netflix. Inspired by the novel 4 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton, Sex/Life focuses on a mother who can’t stop reliving her wild-child past instead of relishing her safe and comfortable present. We see the main character Billie Connelly (played by Sarah Shahi) in nostalgic flashbacks with her bad-boy ex, where she shines in sequins, metallics, and bodycon dresses aplenty. This carefully-curated glamor is then juxtaposed with the puffed sleeves, floral fabrics and loose shapes of current domestic life, representing the mature evolution of both her character and her fashion. Needless to say, it’s so exciting and enthralling to see what happens when her two worlds collide.
